Sustainability at Mantra Geraldton

Here at Mantra Geraldton, we are committed to embedding sustainability into every facet of our daily operations. We recognise that sustainability is an ongoing journey and are continually striving to reduce our carbon footprint wherever possible. Below are some of the initiatives we have implemented to date.

Dry Amenities

We are delighted to share our ongoing commitment to reducing single-use plastics in our guest rooms. As part of this initiative, we have made a significant decision to eliminate single-use dry amenities, taking a bold step towards a plastic-free environment. We understand the importance of preserving our planet for future generations. By removing single-use plastic amenities such as toothbrushes, combs, and shower caps from our guest rooms, we are significantly reducing our environmental footprint.

Large Amenities

As part of our ongoing efforts, we have made the proactive decision to move to large format amenities, replacing our single-use plastic common amenities with eco-friendly pump dispensers throughout the hotel. By eliminating single-use plastic bottles, we are significantly reducing the amount of waste generated by our operations. This commitment aligns with our dedication to environmental stewardship and reflects our ongoing efforts to improve sustainability in all aspects of our hotel.

Waste Management Reduction

At Mantra Geraldton, we have committed to separating waste manually and arranging independent pickup of all recyclable materials. In addition, we have taken a number of steps to further reduce our waste by:

  • Swipe card activated electricity in all units
  • Utilising scrap paper for all internal documentation
  • Replacement of globes with energy efficient lighting progressively
  • Solar panel heating of the main pool

Community Support

We are committed to maintaining strong connections with our local community and give back wherever possible.

  • Connecting with Real Futures and Workskil by participating in their employment schemes and donating time to speak to youth in employment education programs about the hospitality industry
  • Donating excess supplies and/or items being replaced to the community domestic violence and disaster relief services
  • Utilising companies such as The DV collection for guest amenities
  • Donating services to local police charity events

Acknowledgement of Country

The team at Mantra Geraldton would like to respectfully acknowledge the Yamatji Peoples who are the Traditional Owners and First People of the land on which we operate. We pay our respects to the Elders past, present and future for they hold the memories, the traditions, the culture and the hopes of the Yamatiji Peoples.
